So the camera with the 100h firmware is making a liar out of me.  It's been on, had a few shots taken, and is still working just fine.  I'm sure it has needed to go to play and back to record to start working again before, but not now.

I wasn't in much today, but did more testing on the cameras stopping working until you take them into play and then back into record.  It turns out that both do stop updating the live window, or CHDK PTP stops updating the live window.  However, you do not need to go to play to bring them back on-line.  Zooming or wheel left or right will bring them back as well.  Probably other actions will work as well but I ran out of time.

You're right, I did miss that comment.  That does indeed take care of the issue of the live view stopping to update.  I've been using the Canon software which does not literally reflect the viewfinder, different mindset.

I have no idea why the ubtest failed on the new G9 builds but now does not.  I ran it again this morning and it passed with no faults.

So, it looks like the G9 now supports JPG Remote Shoot in the 1000g firmware version.  Woohoo!  Thank you so much for your efforts and patience.  It makes a huge difference in getting the shot right the first time over the Canon RemoteCapture DC software.  I'll be happy to test the 100h version when it is ready.

Please run one more test on 100g. This version includes generic kbd.c code. Instructions here.

I don't see any mention of kbd.c on the linked page.  Are you referring to this section?:

Test neededEdit

Camera boots, can switch to rec mode, shoot, keys etc work normally in when not in alt mode.
Alt mode CHDK menu navigation, jogdial work as expected
Scripted key presses, jogdial work as expected. ubtest.bas test script can be used to check scripted keypresses
USB Remote functionality - a basic plug test as described on the Testing page should be sufficient.
        Enable Remote [ * ]
        Switch Type [ OnePush ]
        Control Type [ Normal ]

Yes. That section, it is a keyboard test.

All tests passed!

I've noticed that the test builds say "X days left".  Do they stop working in X days?
