One question: What is de 'ALT' button for this camera?
Also if the card is locked how can I take pictures?
To enter the 'ALT' mode uses the PLAY button.
If you use 'Firmware update method' your card must be unlocked.
More information is available here:

Great news! CHDK seems to work fine on the sx 520 hs 100b! I just need to learn how to handle it and how it works I have really no idea what I'm doing xD

When I start CHDK, CHDK says that I have 13 days left... anything I can do about it?

This might help: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_1.4.0_User_Manual

Note that movie related features are not implemented yet, and the port has received relatively small attention. That means you can stumble into bugs or not-so-well working features.

Yeah. Please report whether the features you try are working or not. And, of course, any problems you find.

Thanks!

I tried out the shutterspeed override and the raw format. Those two are working! Tonight I will go outside and try taking some long exposure with high iso value shots of the milky way.

Of course I will let you know if something's not working properly or I walked into a bug. But for now it all seems to work and so I'm very, very happy ;)

edit:
Actually there is a small problem that's probably easy to fix, I can't take a picture when I'm in normal CHDK mode so I first have to select the shoot.lua script and then I can take a picture. Isn't there an easier way to do this? Also is there a way to see a 'live update' of my picture when changing the shutterspeed in normal mode with CHDK mod enabled. To be more clear: When I have CHDK enabled and I turn my shutterspeed wheel it will change the shutterspeed but the screen brightness of the picture doesn't change. Is there a way to change this?

This is normal CHDK operation. Just exit alt mode to shoot normally. Any CHDK overrides you set are still applied. CHDK "alt" mode is just used to access the settings and run scripts, CHDK is always "running" after you boot.

Unfortunately, there is not.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Not at all :)

To get into playback mode rather than toggling alt, just hold down the play button a bit longer.

Thanks!

Update:
I just made the pictures and they turned out great! I have had one crash (at least I think it was a crash). The screen just turned black (after I wanted to take a picture in normal mode, with CHDK in the background), when I restarted my camera everything worked fine  again.

A crash usually looks like this:
- when the lens is retracted: screen turns black, camera can then be turned on the usual way
- when lens is extended: screen turns black, lens does not retract. When turning on the camera, lens retracts first.

Please make a romlog:
Miscellaneous stuff -> Debug parameters -> Save ROM crash log
and upload it here.

Here you go!
Here's the rom log!

Also as you can see with the other attachment when I take a photo in raw mode I get the outer edges of my lens... Anything I can do about that other then zooming?

P.S. Sorry if my English is bad sometimes English is not my native language (it's dutch ;) ).
