If I try to drag CHKD files from my computer to my canon sx170is camera ( which is connected to my PC by a cable ) I'm getting an error message : '' You cannot copy CHKD . You don't have permission to create this item '' . I have to underline that my SD card is NOT protected / locked. Any suggestions ? Tnx !

I'd be really surprised to find out that you can just drag and drop random files from your PC to your camera over a standard USB cable PTP link.  The "not having permission" message is just a generic error that really means it can't be done period.

Using something like chdkptp you can move what you want but that requires you to have CHDK running on your camera prior to starting the ptp connection.

Maybe someone else has a better idea?

waterwingz, many thanks for your reply . Please try to understand that my knowledge about this matter is very limited. This is why I'm posting this question here at forum if it's even possible to install CHDK on your camera without using card reader . ( Srry about my english . As you can see it's not my native lang.. )

Your English is just fine.   Far better than any language I can attempt - even with google translate.

I don't think I've seen a way to get CHDK onto an SD card without a PC card reader.  Sorry.
