As for the origin of the DOF calculator, svn log and blame may provide some hints. The original code predates my involvement in CHDK.
If it predates you then the question is pretty much irrelevant as nobody from that far back still posts here.

The link above is over four years old.  There are many other old links about DOF, near limit, & far limit.  That was just an example.

I asked these posts to be combined as they are all current and on essentially the same topic.  Putting them together makes it easier for the 4 or 5 people who actively answer questions on this forum to follow.  And for people to find later via search engines.

Why not here?  The information in your posts is all related to SD override / MF / focus.  As will be any solutions.

Starting new threads will not attract additional comments or responses.  The five people I mentioned above follow all posts and comment when they have something to add.  But if you feel strongly about it,  go ahead.
