Ok so I'm getting the hang of it works. now just to get it to deact lighting.
That's the tricky bit.  You don't exactly get a lot of chances to test & tune.   So assuming you are shooting at night, start off by decreasing the sensitivity until it starts randomly triggering when there is no lightning.  Then raise the trigger threshold up a bit and hope for the best.

A moment before what?  Before the actual lightning strike?  Or before the strike reaches its full lenght?

Turn the sensitivity down a bit then (set a higher value).

before the lighting . Tried just about evey  value.

before the lighting .
So this means the camera will sit quietly, for many many minutes,  waiting for a lightning strike?  And immediately before the actual strike occurs,  it takes the picture,  missing the actual shot by less than a second or so?

If you turn the sensitivity value up ( i.e. try every value ) then at some point the camera will not react to anything - and you typically do not have to go very high.

Unless you are adjusting the wrong value.   What is the exact text of the parameter you are adjusting?

Good to hear.   Although the fudgy script and the MDFB2013.lua script do exactly the same thing internally when using the CHDK motion detection function.  So I can only assume that you setup the script parameters differently.
