Great, great build!  I was interested to see how the Override Aperture fares, but so far I'm disappointed.  I've taken comparison shots at f2.8 (f.2.7) and f8 (f16) and I'm struggling to see any difference.  I'd imagine I wouldn't at the 2.8 end of things but was expecting to get at least another stop (f11) at the back end.  Does anyone know what I can expect?

according to CameraFeatures - CHDK Wiki the 720 should be capable of overriding aperture, but only in the long zoom ranges.

But remember, using apertures smaller than F/8 may cause some loss of detail due to diffraction,though you can have overall sharpness gain due to broader DOF. Actually all point-n-shoots display this problem from F/8 and smaller.

It's disappointing to discover that it only works in zoom... I rarely take shots at the full zoom extent - the quality's not that great.  Oh, well!  :)
