PowerShot A1100IS occasionally won't save DNGs

Every now and then when I use my camera I'll put the card in my computer and the directory that should be full of DNGs is full of nothing.

The most recent time this happened I had turned my camera on and off several times between taking photos yet none of them saved, except for one when I was testing the ND filter on a lightbulb.

This has happened before, but I have never disabled saving raw and I would never disable saving raw.

I'm using 1.2, not sure which of the three firmware dumps.

I haven't had many chances to test why it does it because I don't know that it happened until after it's all over and it's only happened two or three times and I'm too keen on having it happen again so any and all suggestions are welcome.

Update: After reformatting my memory card and booting into CHDK I saw that Save RAW was disabled. I didn't turn that off, at least not deliberately. Does something cause this to reset or am I very clumsy with the UI?

First of all, I'd recommend upgrading to a more recent release.
You may have triggered one of the CHDK keyboard shortcuts that toggles RAW/DNG saving. In newer CHDK releases, these shortcuts can be disabled (CHDK Settings -> Enable Half-Press Shortcut Keys []).
CHDK keeps its settings in .cfg files in the CHDK directory. Formatting the card erases these files. If you'd like to keep your settings (, scripts, etc), back up the CHDK directory.

Thank you. Downloading and disabling Half-Press Shortcut Keys.

If the above doesn't fix it, a few other things to look out for:

If you press the shutter quickly, without waiting for the camera to focus, this might cause raw to skipped on some cameras. In this case, there won't the normal delay for the raw to save.

If you shoot a burst (with continuous mode, or by clicking very quickly) the file number might not be incremented when it's time to save the raw. If this happens, every shot will have the normal raw saving delay, but some images in the sequence will be missing.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
