Hi,
      I'm having trouble figuring out how to use chdk's more advanced settings, or even knowing if I can do certain things, like increase the iso and aperture ranges. I haven't read the manual yet. Is this the best place to start? Does each camera have a somewhat different manual. Are detailed explanations available for each camera? (I'm using the Powershot A590is)

Yes.  No. And detailed info about most cameras is in their individual porting threads on this forum.
