I mean not the current of the power bank. That should be definitely not a problem. Only the resistor of contacts when not fit.
Did you try to switch on in replay mode? The current influence should be less.

No resister. Do you have an external power supply (with minimum 3A) with regulator?

I use my SX230 and S110 with the same fake adapter and different power supplies. I never had problems with this stuff. But I have 4 different fake adapters (S45, S110, G1x EOS1220D). And they all have a little bit different connector. They fit sometimes, but that does not really work.

The 'play' mode did not matter.
So I might get  me a (different?) NB5L adapter to be more sure.

I always had the experience, that the price for an adapter and an adapter + powers supply was not very big (around €6,-). Then you have something, which should work together. And then you had an additional connector to play with.

I can add a JST connector to the PSU I have and still connect that to the S110.

I don't think I saw this mentioned, but might be helpful if you want to power your camera from a lipo or some other DC source which might not have exactly 4.3v output...

My plan is to use the appropriate dc-dc coupler/adapter for my camera & a "DC 8-22V to 1-15V SR Adjustable buck converter" to get the voltage to exactly 4.3v. This will then be connected to a 12v lipo.

Just make sure that whatever converter you buy can source at least 2 Amps.

I purchased ones with 1.5a continuous / 2.2a max.

The AC adapters for the SX260 & A2300 (which are the cameras I am using) look to be 1.5a, so hopefully the buck converters I ordered can hang in there. If not china is always a click away :)

What camera are you using that needs 2a continuous? One of the bigger G series or something?

When purchasing power supplies, it's a good idea to have a bit more capacity than the maximum draw you expect.  Most of the powershot will draw about 1.5 amps when shooting and writing to the SD card.  Hence my 2 amp recommendation, especially for electronics from China, where compliance to published specs is hit and miss at best.

I think we talked about DC/DC converter before.

I have one DC/DC converter which have 2A /max 3A and does not work with my S110, when the lens goes out. I have to use a big capacity as well.

But how do you know, that the stuff is not coming from China? I really sure, every DC/DC converter, which I can by in Germany, which cost less than $20, comes from China. I saw one converter at Conrad Electronic for $50 and saw the same in China for $5.

Independent from the instability off some converts from me is that you don’t lose energy. With the internal converter of the Power bank (3.7V to 5V) you will lose probably 20% of energy and with another external converter may be 20% again…

So my next solution will be some like is descript above…

Sometimes the units from China are the same as the ones you can get locally.  But frequently they are either exact copies using cheaper components  or similar circuits with fewer components.  There a few good "tear down" articles showing the construction of fake Apple USB chargers - the outside plastic enclosure looks the same, they even have an Apple logo in some cases.  But inside the design is different, with poor electrical isolation and low quality capacitors.
