is it possible for canon cam on chdk to save an images directly to my hard drive while the cam is connected to my laptop?
and can i do other things on my cam while its connected to my computer such as taking pictures to flash memory and then manually move them to my pc

((when my cam connected to my pc via usb i cant even take pictures))

Hi, I cannot see how it is possible. The camera will be hanging for three months freely to documentate a construction and will be shooting pictures with the script "Seven-up". So I need the pictures to download automatically because I do not want to download them manually every 4 days or so because CHDK limits the size of the SD Card to 2 GB as far as I know.

It's not clear if you intend to have the camera and PC connected all the time? Or just occasionally.

Regardless, there is no 2G limit imposed by CHDK. Older cameras need a specially formatted card if you want to use 8G or larger cards but there is no upper size limit. All commercially available SD card sizes will work.

About what camera we are talking? 2 GB is certainly not the real limit of your camera.

Which CHDK version is used?

seven-up is an old uBASIC script from the German CHDK forum, not the best choice for this task. Read more about Lua scripts: => http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_Scripting_Cross_Reference_Page

There is also a script especially for long-term projects: => http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Ultimate_Intervalometer

The automatic save on PC only works via PTP connection (see the links above) or with a WiFi sd card.
