Thanks @liero

I'm thinking I screwed up a propset value.  I was updating the build and the notes, and I read in the notes up to "30 seconds".  So I thought, "I wonder if it can do 60?"   I tried it, and things seemed normal...there was a click after 60 seconds. And then it seemed to freeze.
After that, even 3 seconds doesn't seem to do anything.
So maybe some bad value got set in flash memory.

Some things I'd suggest comparing between liero's working and 62ndidiots not working setups

* Canon capture mode (M, P, Tv, some scene mode ... ?)
* Canon file type setting (RAW, JPG, RAW+JPG)
* CHDK raw / DNG settings
* CHDK dark frame setting

3 seconds is often the threshold where the Canon firmware turns on dark frame subtraction.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

With 60 seconds, the camera would probably have tried to do a dark frame for another 60 seconds.

As far as we know, propcase values aren't saved in flash.

I think it's ok now.  I think it's my bad, I set 3 minutes not 3 seconds.
Shot myself in the foot.
Hopefully I'll have a release with updated GUI and functions for you soon @liero thanks.

I've updated chdk for sx60hs.  It includes fixes to motion detection, implementation of new GUI functions for Digic 6, including Zebra, Histogram, and improved graphics and fonts for the CHDk menu.  Please let me know here if there are any problems etc.  Feedback on the new menu fonts would be useful.

Edit: 2017.04.19 I've updated the firmware boot method in each of these distributions because it was not recompiled correctly

FWIW, you have always been able to change the menu fonts in CHDK and some of the larger ones looked quote nice on the D6 cameras.

However, only the menu text is affected by that change.  So the change to a larger base font improves a whole lot of other things like the OSD items and the console.

One drawback is that this limits the minimum size of text that a script can write to the display. Not a big deal as only D6 cams would support that anyway.

thanks waterwingz, I changed the menu font before, but this looks better anyway... or maybe it's the fact that I recently bought a pair of glasses ;) don't need them anymore with new default settings

Hello to all and sorry for my bad english.
I'm using for my sx60 (100f) the beta version 1.5.0.4685 via update firmware in menu camera.
For my purpose it is working (i use CHDK for bracketing with intervallometer script when i need).
With the new beta posted by 62ndidiot i have some problems: for example i can not access to sub menu language for change it or i can not access to sub menu script for load one of them.
The same for other function.
I'm wrong something or chdk is loaded not correctly?
Thanks in advance for Your help and thanks to all people who are working hard for CHDK on these and other Canon camera.

Best regards

Paolo

@paolo:  thank you for trying CHDK!
:) However, many features of CHDK do not work reliably using the firmware update method, for newer Digic 6 cameras.  I only recommend using this method to make the SD card bootable.  After doing that, remove the card, slide the write lock to locked, re-insert the card and restart the camera so that CHDK will boot.
I will investigate the menu problems you have, it's not something I'm very familiar with.
