Not sure if this means I can ignore the setting for now. @waterwingz?
I'm not sure which cameras won't override with something in the hot shoe and which will.  One of the comments in the threads I posted suggested that it may depend on the camera shooting mode ( P, M, AUTO, continuous, etc ) as to whether it's an issue or not. Mostly a question of whether the code takes a different path through one of the hacked tasks when the sensor detects something I presume.

There was another reason for being able to override the hot shoe switch posted.  Pretty weak but it was to allow cameras with broken (or sticky) sense switches to still work normally and ignore the hot shoe when shooting normally in Canon mode.

Note : as reyalp reminded me yesterday, stubs_entry.S has the necessary definitions (even for D6 cameras like the sx60 and g16)
Code: [Select]
sx60hs/sub/100c/stubs_entry.S://#define HOTSHOE_FLAG        0x00000800 // Found @0xfc5cfbcc, levent 0x204
sx60hs/sub/100c/stubs_entry.S://#define HOTSHOE_IDX         1
Ported :   A1200    SD940   G10    Powershot N    G16

Yes.  The index should be 1 not 2.  I thought I had blindly copied those from another port.  So the excersise to log keys was a good refresher for me but unnecessary..
I'll put it in the port for now.

Hi, there seems to be a problem if the long exposure is set to more than 3 minutes. The camera will stuck, if I press the shutter button again, it will say interrupted, but other buttons do not work (including power and alt). I have to remove the battery to reset it.

Thank you so much for helping find problems! Can you please tell us your firmware version. I have not tested 3 minute exposure (yet).

Do you have dark frame subtraction disabled? If not, the camera will likely be unresponsive for 3 minutes following the initial exposure.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply, my camera firmware is 100b, I did not check if the dark frame subtraction is enabled/disabled, where can I find this option? The behavior is after I press the shutter, and press it immediately after, this usually interrupt the script and return to normal shooting mode. but if I set the long exposure for more than 3 minutes, after I press the shutter button, the display will go dark and nothing I press will affect it, not shutter, not ALT, not power, The only option I find working is to remove the battery.

Dark frame acquisition will typically happen for most exposures over 1second by default. ( the camera will take an exposure with the lens shutter closed for an equal length of time in order to measure and subtract noise from the original long exposure)  During this time the camera will seem unresponsive.  I've been fooled into thinking there's a bug by this as well.
Check that "Darkframe subtraction" is set to off in the CHDK menu "Enhanced Photo Operations menu".
Or try waiting an additional 3 minutes for dark frame acquisition and subtraction ;)

Hi all!
Here is a new SX60 HS owner.

Spent some time trying to read all info about this camera in this forum, and now i have installed CHDK, but i'm a little bit confused:

Qhat's the last /more stable version for 100f firmware? I found and installed 1.5.0.-4931, but i think i cant find the way to use those interesting functions as intervalometer, long exposure, etc...  :-[

Thank you so much for your hard work, time, support and effort to make this canon camera much better than original  8)

Hi Javi, are you able to boot ( power on) the camera and see the CHDK logo while booting? After that a short press of the "play" key ( the one that displays the pictures already on the camera ) should put the camera into CHDK mode and display "alt" near the bottom of the LCD. Then the menu key should allow you access to carousel CHDK settings and scripts.
As for the version 4391, I don't have access to a pc at the moment to check.  I also believe this camera is now in the "autobuild" section of the repository for CHDK so the latest version should be obtained there.

Perhaps someone can post additional instructions.  Good luck!

Thanks @62ndidiot ! i think my english skills aren't good enough to explain myself :D
I installed version 4931, and i can use it powering on the camera. I use the 'lock on' method to run CHDK (curiously when doing this, if power on pressed it just enter playbak mode, and viceversa, if display mode pressed, camera powers on in shooting mode :D )

What i mean is that once in the menu, i see lots of variables, i have read the manual (92 pags pdf), and i still dont know how to load modules or scripts to get things as i read here: long exposure shots (up to three minutes??), intervalometer, and so on...

Another thing i'm confused with is if there is any crop mode, like the one in Magic Lantern, so optical zom is increased with the lack of resolution, of course...

Maybe i'm missing some mandatory threads as i'm really new here and i'm still landing!!!

thanks, thanks, thanks!

Javi
