A540 hangs when picture is taken in CHDK mode

I have used CHDK on my 2 gig Eye-fi card for several years with few problems.  Today when a picture is taken with CHDK enabled, the activity light to the left of the optical viewfinder stays on, the led screen goes blank, and no buttons have any effect (power on/off etc.).

If pictures are taken in normal Canon, non-CHDK mode, there is no problem.

I used Stick to re-install Chdk, and the problem persists.

I have to remove power- the batteries or ac connection, to get camera control back.

A standard sd card that also has chdk on it works fine in my camera.

I prefer to use the Eye-fi card because of its convenience.  But I really appreciate CHDK's features.

The only thing I have done differently recently is use a number of scripts- especially the focus/zoom script.

Any help appreciated.

What specific version of CHDK are you using? You can use miscellaneous -> build info in the CHDK menu to see. Check both the eye-fi and regular card.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

The eye-fi card is using A540-100B 1.3.0-3913

It worked with no problem for several weeks.  Except for recently adding some scripts, nothing has been changed recently.  The hanging whenever chdk is enabled started yesterday.

If it changed behavior without you changing anything, then it is almost certainly a hardware problem.

If you did change something, reverting those changes or resetting to defaults and then re-doing whatever the changes were might help narrow down the cause.

Setting up a non eye-fi card with identical configuration might also be informative. You can just copy all the files from your eyefi to another card. (edit: I saw you said regular card works fine, but I want to be sure it works with the exact same  build and settings)

Are you starting CHDK with auto boot or firm update?

edit:
Another question: Have you used or tried to use any of the CHDK eye-fi functionality? I don't think any of this is active by default.

You could try using the Reset Options to Default. option in the CHDK Settings menu in case it;s something borked in the CHDK settings.   This might not have anything to do with being on a wifi card and I don't think STICK clears out the existing settings file(s) when it (re-)installs CHDK.
