In A-series cameras, when the manual focus is being controlled by the zoom lever, the left/right directional controls should operate the zoom.  Currently, when using the zoom lever for MF, there is no way to zoom the lens.

The trouble is that the focusing-by-zooming is done by simulating left/right cursor presses.
So, to the OS, it's still the left/right keys that do the focusing (and, in fact, you can still use them).

It would be very handy, indeed, to still have a way to zoom. Perhaps it would be nice if the zoom buttons were only used for manual focusing while another key is pressed, or conversely, keeping another key pressed would escape back into zoom mode.
