Hi all im new here,

 But i have looked at some of these great scripts and the timelapse script seem to have a LCD off feature after 1st shot or 5th shot.

well ive looked but cant seem to find a Motion detection script with this feature......    :(   

ive also tried a mini usb to the AV socket but nothing happens? apparently it should switch lcd off??


Any help on this would great ,

Motion detection works by looking for changes in the buffer used by the LCD. That's why you can't switch it off - if you did, motion detection would not work.

Try :  mdfb2013.lua  It allows either the backlight or entire display to be turned off.   And it's probably the best choice for a motion detection script regardless of your LCD control needs.

Set user parameter in the script menu Display Power Saving [ LCD ].

umm ...  that's not actually true.   Motion detection works by watching the display buffer in memory.   That buffer is updated even when the LCD is off.

brilliant exactly what im looking for, this is perfect, but i dont know how much battery i will save surely a bit since there is no bright backlight.

It was true before we had CHDK functions to turn off the display. Turning off the display with the disp button (on the cameras which support that feature) does turn off the sensor when you aren't actually shooting.
