"distance subject" value on a A470 101b firmware keeps changing

I am having a weird "distance subject" setting issue on a A470 101b firmware.
I am searching the forums and seeing some odd issues with this setting but I have not yet found an issue like mine.

Using CHDK 0.9.9-953 and setting CHDK Main menu - Extra photo operations - Override Subj. Dist. V or I am now using CHDK 1.3.0 and using CHDK menu - Enhanced Photo Operations - Override subj Di [On] [ 91], randomly the values are changed when I take a photo. The camera has digital zoom turned off and I have zoomed it in Auto mode, as far as able.

I take a photo and it might work fine. I take a few more, maybe they will be all ok. Then i will notice just before the photo is taken (at focus), it suddenly looks blurry. I go into the CHDK settings and sometimes the [On] has gone to [Off[.
More often, my setting [91] could now [160] or maybe [3000] or something else random.

I am not sure if one of the settings in the Canon menu is interfering (AiAF) etc.

It does not always happen, but enough times that it gets annoying. I need to go back into CHDK and reset to my values and take some more shots after which it will then change and again I go back into the menu and change it (ad nauseam).

I am getting some of the shots I want but this is a weird issue and annoying.

any ideas ?
