Is there a way to record a series of still frames to .AVI, but you can see the previous frame recorded overlaid onto the current live frame? (they call it onion skinning in the Stop Motion animation world).

Ardman animation for CHDK!

well, recording to avi isnt planned yet, and i doubt it will be coded.
the other feature (onion-skinning) will be very well possible all too soon, see edge overlay. not too long and this will make it into official trunk, and i guess both stereo photographers AND stop-motion guys will benefit from that. also, it will be very useful for creating panoramas.

Remember, since the TX1 port there is now a distinction made between bitmap buffer width (480 on TX1) and bitmap screen width (360 on every camera).
