Chris Fastie posted about this in the KAP Forum a couple months ago.  Apparently he uses USB shutter triggering under CHDK to take pictures from the Arduino Nano.  He uses it to take half-spherical panoramas.  The picavet and camera platform  are 3-D printed.  Pretty nifty.  And a lot of documentation for those interested in how it was done.
