I'd like to be able to input a caption and/or list of tags/keywords that get stored either in the EXIF info (ideally in a standard way that other programs and websites know how to pull out) or in the image filename itself, just to save me time doing this at my computer later if I have time to do it in a car or on a train/bus or while waiting for something else to happen to take a picture of before I get back to a computer, even if the input of the text is obviously more painful than with a full keyboard).

(Note that while lots of programs and website let you caption/tag, many don't do so in a way that is easy to backup or extract and use automatically with other programs/websites, so my preference is always to have the custom text stored in the JPEG file itself---that way any backup of the file automatically preserves the text too. The most standard way of doing this that I've found is to use the filename itself---lots of websites can automatically display the filename in addition to or instead of a caption entered on the website, e.g., SmugMug).

We dont have any in camera editing capabilities yet,we would need that for lots of things.so we first need that virtual keyboard,then we can think about implementing your request.

For now you could use the sound memo... if you camera has mic.
Some are using PDAs or other portables keyboarded devices.

It is sooo easy to make the onscreen keyboard. There is that "color selector" right? or was it pallet selector?? anyways you can just use the code to that, I imagine how it works is it prints out a square with whatever color, then you can move around the squares using the Up/Down etc arrows, and select. Same with letters, just print all the letters (in QUERTY format or a square, which would make the letters a bit closer). Then we could have an autocompleter, like on some cellphones, so if you type "Pa" it will autocomplete to PARTY, and if use a tag a lot such as "garden", it will automatically autosuggest when you press g. Anyways, I really have faith in you guys that you can code this!!! I think this really is a 1st priority feature.

sometimes things look easy to the untrained eye. sometimes things ARE easy, but still they don't get done. this has a lot of reasons. anyhow, if you want to join the developers group of this forum - have fun. it really is fun coding for such a great project. :)

the most "easy" way to have an on screen keyboard would be to copy the code from the color-chooser (in the visual menu) and rewrite it so that instead of colors, you choose letters (or even complete words for ubasic for example).
Oh wow...creepy we think alike :P (maybe I'm a great mind after all :D).
