What firmware version does your camera have? It sounds like you are not using a CHDK port that matches your camera's firmware exactly.

Okay so when I use STICK to analyze the photo is states No official build is available for this camera. I am using the most recent firmware: 110d.

When reading the instructions for using STICK with an unsupported build step 2 states: next you have to download the zipfile containing the build in question - presumably pointed to by a porting thread on the CHDK Forum.

Where exactly is this "porting thread" that contains the zipfile I need? I found a .BIN file in a previous search of this forum but have not been able to open it. Is there an actual zip file that I can download?

Thanks again.

This is the porting thread.

It's attached to this post.

As it's written in the linked post, the playback button is the ALT button (short press=ALT, long press=original function).

I am using the most recent firmware: 110d.
Please note than the CHDK version 1.00d means that it's for Canon firmware version 1.00d.  That number does not indicate a release date or timing of the CHDK code.

Menu jumping/flickering

Symptoms

When browsing the CHDK menu, the menu's current and previous state flickers back and forth constantly. When outside the menu, CHDK on screen elements (such as the battery display) flicker in a similar manner.

Triggered by (any of the following)

- hybrid auto mode
- face tracking auto focus enabled
- animated drawings on the Canon display
- ...

Workaround

- Avoid the above mentioned modes / settings when browsing the menu
- Only browse the menu in playback mode

The technical cause of this flickering is that CHDK only draws on one of the 2 overlay buffers at any time - the flickering modes switch constantly back and forth between the two buffers where one of the buffers has outdated CHDK drawings.

Sorry to be so late to the party.  Just upgraded Canon firmware to 1.1.0 d.  The m10-110d-1.5.0-4806-full build works fine for me; CHDK and ALT menus are crisp and nice looking; I can move the cursor using either rotary dial on back, or jogdial on the top.  Normal testing with scripts is next.  If there's a way to provoke the issue, I'm happy to try.

@axman
This post quotes the only report about a possibly misbehaving M10 and has a link to a video made by an EOS M3 user who also seems to be affected by something similar.
I suspect a slight misalignment of the jogdial - which, apparently, does not bother the Canon firmware.
So, I'm afraid there's no way to reproduce the issue unless the camera is an affected one.

@srsa_4c,

Ok, thanks.  I can provide a firmware dump of 1.1.0 d from my recently-upgraded camera, if that's still useful.
