I've made some testing. See the report below:

CHDK for sx400is-100b
//Report on testing by Astol no.1
-----------------

I've managed how it goes with starting. It depends on the time I hold the play button. If I just click it, camera starts in photo mode. If I hold it, camera starts in the play mode.
But if I hold it too long, camera Shows the splashscreen and turns off – bug.

When I open the flash and set it on automatic, It shoots only when flash is required. When the automatics decide to not use the flash It will not shoot until the flash is open (or automatics turned off)

Games are working fine

Tools are working fine

Settings works fine

Live histogram works fine

Changing flash intensity works fine

Zebra is not working properly. Problem is that it shows red rectangles in upper and lower part of display and covers the wiew.

Raw shooting works, but is not much useful (fisheye effect)

Scripts are working fine (I've not tried remote and some of the test scripts)

I sent you a new version, please check the power up behavior.
The power up behavior depends on button used:
- Playback button pressed, camera should start in playback mode.
- Power button pressed for less than a second, camera should start in playback mode.
- Power button pressed for more than a second, camera should start in record mode.

EDIT: Fix typo "start in record mode" thanks to reyalp.

- Power button pressed for more than a second, camera should start in playback mode.
Typo alert: Second should probably be "start in record"
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I've made a series of tests described at http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Testing
See the results:

Testing overrides ✓

Testing RAW/DNG ✓

   File counter ✓

   File folders ✓

Free RAM ✓

Viewport buffers ‼

Zebra test → Shows red rectangles in upper and lower part of display and covers the wiew. Indicator is offset.

USB Remote ✓

Testing with scripts

   isobase.lua ??
      shows "set CAM_MARKET_ISO_BASE 200"
(I am not sure, if it is ok.)

   mftest.lua ✓

   llibtst.lua ✓

   setmode.lua ✓

   ubtest.bas ✓

   MD_tune.bas ✓

   hooktest.lua ✓

One more bug during testing (maybe it have nothing to do with CHDK). Once I turned the camera off and the objective did not slip in. To turn the camera on I had to remove the batterry.

It's possible that some of the viewport related stuff is incorrect (not easy to get that right without the camera). Can you upload a photo that shows the wrong zebra?

Similar things can happen if CHDK gets viewport/display dimensions wrong, especially when zebra is enabled.
