What shooting mode is the camera in when you see this? It's quite common for failures like this to happen in AUTO mode. I'd suggest checking AUTO and P mode.

In each mode, try taking a few shots in continuous mode, and check whether it every shot is bad, or just some.

I have not replicated the problem described by Gri128 using auto mode, but I saw raw problems in low light mode.
Raw was disabled on Low light mode in rev 4770.

That looks like plenty of free RAM.
Since you seem to have the cam, can you tell me the status of the movie related features? task_MovieRecord is replaced, but movie features are not enabled in platform_camera.h. Notes indicate that they do not work...?

Movie features are enable. Maybe these lines in platform_camera.h are a bit confusing:

CAM_CHDK_HAS_EXT_VIDEO_MENU is commented out but is defined by default in include/camera.h

Video quality control works.
Quality 82, video duration 17s: file size 32MB
Quality 10, video duration 15s: file size 6.3MB

I did not see diference with bitrate 3x or 1x, I'm not sure how to test it.

The port is complete, and bugs reported were fixed.

Today, sx400is 100b port was included in trunk autobuild server as alpha release. Rev 4866.
