Longer auto exposure

Hi,

I'm working on night-to-morning time lapse and camera is limited to max 1sec auto exposure setting - I would like much longer for night time without increasing ISO for dark scenes but still alowing it to auto compensate when there is enough light. Can this limit be increased by CHDK or there is such function in CHDK already?

Thanks,
Vincas

It can easily be done by CHDK with a simple script.  I'm not sure I know one that does exactly what you want though. So if no-one else posts something I'll do the code myself, test, and post it here.

So this would need to be custom script that does timelapse and auto adjusts exposure?

You need to use a script for the intervalometer function.  Adding code to get exposure control to work the way you want is not difficult.

Or you could probably use the simple intervalometer script that comes with CHDK and use the CHDK custom auto ISO function to control exposure.  It's a bit hard to understand but should work.

Tried CHDK Custom Auto ISO, but that goes only up to 2.5 second exposure, better than 1 second without it, but still not enough. Is this camera limitation or i missed something in CHDK? If that does not work then will need to look at auto exposure scripts as suggested

I don't believe Custom AutoISO gets a lot of use.  The logic made sense to its author but is a little hard for others to understand.  If you like, i can post a script for you to try.
