CHDK for Powershot G9X?

CHDK for Powershot G9X?

I searched and did not find a reference for the powershot G9 X.  Does anyone know if the current fw versions of CHDK match with any in the G9 X?


I do not have this camera, just shopping.  Thanks so much.

Each camera and firmware version needs a version of CHDK compiled just for that camera/firmware version.  So far, AFAIK nobody has come forward to work on the G9X.  More information the porting process can be found here :

Currently, the G7 X (original, not the recently released MK2) is the only 1" sensor Gn X camera with a reasonably functional port. See https://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=12692.0

Some features (mostly live view / histogram / zebra related) are missing due to changes in digic 6 that aren't fully supported in CHDK yet, but the port is usable if you don't need those features.

edit:
To clarify, I only brought this up because you mentioned you were shopping. If you want a 1" sensor camera with CHDK, it's an option, though a bit larger than the G9X.

To be clear,  reyalp did not mean to imply that the G7 X is in any way usable with a G9 X camera.

Hope the G9 X gets ported. It would be an excellent camera for KAP and UAS photography. :)

I'm will start porting for the G9X soon, just got the firmware and other information.

I don't have time so it might take a while, but having used CHDK a few years ago on some older Canon SX220 HS camera, I can't wait to use on it my G9X.

Feel free to start a porting thread in the development section when you are ready.

You can use the sx280, g7x and sx60 ports in svn for reference. You may also find the porting threads for those cameras useful.

When philmoz tried to port the g5x (https://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=12672.0), he apparently ran into trouble getting a working UI display.  The display code in the g5x firmware appears to be different from other ported digic 6 cameras. I haven't disassembled your g9x dump yet, but given that the g9x was released at the same time, there's a good chance that it is more like the g5x.
