get_dof - implementation, accuracy?

For my present focus/exposure stacking trials, I have hacked up a simple get_dof() based script.

Having done some test runs (with logging) I noticed that it gives a DOF of 1mm
for my Canon A630, full wide, full open, shortest focus.

Is that right? It seems extreme.

Is the implementation of get_dof available as source, or as detailed documentation?

There is not a lot of detailed documentation about get_dof() (or any CHDK internals) that is easily accessable.  But you can probably find some conversations about get_dof() if you search this forum - typically a google search will work better than the built-in forum search.  Search using this search string for best results :

site:https://chdk.setepontos.com/ get_dof

The source code is available from the assembla svn repository.  You are looking for the function called  shooting_update_dof_values() in the file core/shooting.c
