I'm trying to jump start the SD950 port.  It's DryOS and the firmware dumped fine. It should be possible. The A650 has been done already and this camera is probably very similar as they share Digic III and image sensor (12.1Mp).

Can anybody help me out.  I can do the leg work. I have a camera and a brain but I haven't done any firmware ports before. So I could use some help.

you should read the wiki, especially the part about porting.
For Developers - CHDK Wiki
when you have done that, i suggest reading one of the several "...porting..." threads in this forum, there are a lot of valuable posts by the likes of ewavr, jeff666, grAnd, mx3 and Dataghost (there are lots more of course), explaining porting in detail.
