Canon SD1000 Firmware Questions...

I have a Canon SD1000 and have determined that it has Firmware 1.0.1a based on it's serial number. I have also seen that the 1.0.1b version of CHDK will work with the 1.0.1a firmware on the camera...

My quesiton is what is new in the 1.0.2a firmware? I see that it has been dumped and would like to update my camera but 1st am not sure how to do an upgrade and 2nd not sure if it is needed for my camera.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

... just to note... I can't even get the CHDK firmware to show up... I followed all instructions and nothing shows up in the menu... these are the steps I followed:

A. Follow these steps:
Remove the SD card from your camera and put it in the card reader of your PC.
Extract the files from the firmware zip file that you have downloaded.
Copy the files PS.fir and Diskboot.bin into the root folder of your SD card.
If you are on a Mac, read and follow this link
Put the SD card back into the camera.

I made sure not to use the system unarchive utility and I also made sure the SD card was freshly formatted in the camera before doing any of this. Any ideas? Thanks.

there is no official information on most of these "official" updates, we dont know what they fix or if they introduce new features. however, be advised that when you update your camera you will definitly lose warranty, as this is a permanent change. if something goes wrong during update - camera is bricked.
