Will CHDK work with camera bought in Japan?

Hi. I'm about to buy the Japanese model of the Canon SD870 IS which is called the IXY Digital 910IS here in Japan.
CHDK is reported to work for the SD870 so I just wanted to check if that meant that it would work for the equivalent Japanese model.

There is almost 100% chance that it will work on IXY model since the only difference between SD, IXUS a IXY is just the label. But check the firmware version.

Hi, are you sure about that? I'm thinking about getting an Ixy 800 (equivalent to SD700/IXUS 800), but it seems like the firmware contains different languages, only Japanese and English.

Does this difference affect the CHDK firmware compatibility?

Did anyone get CHDK to work on an IXY?
