All done.  I've come to the end of my "to do" list for this port (at least for 1.01c firmware). All the standard CHDK features are implemented and working AFAIK.

download link > g16-101c-1.5.0-4830-full.zip

While it's "complete", there are the usual caveats about this being a Digic6 port. That primarily means no video mods, no "firmware update" booting mode, and the LCD gets really busy (flashing) when you use CHDK in shooting mode.

I've left the test version timer enable @ 60 days for now.  If I get some testing feedback I'll remove that.

Hi Waterwings,

if it is of any interest and relevance:
I tried it on my G16 Firmware 1.00H, but set a part that the power LED is green,
no other reaction is to be seen (Black screen, no movement of the lens,...)
and the camera is locked, so that I have to take out the battery to switch it off.

Many thanks for all the hard work!

Greetings,

Harald

Thanks - using a port for the wrong firmware version will pretty much never work (unless the firmware changes did not affect any mapped code or data addresses). I've already checked and the 1.00h, 1.01a, & 1.01c are different so they would not be expected to work. But as you seem to be willing to test, I'll do the 1.00h port next.

Note that I'm still hoping mavs or someone else will post a dump of the 1.01b firmware.

Your earlier comment got me inspired and I made substantial progress today on both the other ports.  It's actually more efficient to do two at once - I just wish I had the 1.01b dumped as well.  It's going to be more work to do later.

With luck, I'll have something for you to try in a couple of days.

That sound very good.
My G16 will be then airborne
with my hexacopter:-)

Re: G16 Porting Thread - 1.00h, 1.01a, 1.01c complete

I've finished the ports for firmware 1.00h, 1.01a, 1.01c.    I've tested 1.01c but need feedback on the other versions before then can be added to the autobuild.

As per forum traditions, download links are available from the first post in this thread.

I would still like to have a firmware dump for the 1.01b

Hi waterwingz,

unfortunately 1.00H does not show CHDK.
The power LED is green but everything else is not responsive
and the screen is black, so I cannot read a romlog...

I installed CHDK for the G15 with CHIMP, deleted all files and copied all files
from g16-100h-1.5.0-4832-full.zip

Then I copied back the PS.FI2 from the G15 installation but I do not get a firmware update option
in the menue from the preview.

Then I copied PS.FI2 as PS.FIR and I get then the Firm Update menu
but then I get "Update File Error!!!"

The same happens when I take the PS.FIR from the PowerShot G7.
(I didn't find a more recent one)

Any thing else that I could try?

Thank you very much for the first try!

Greetings,

Harald

You can't use the G15 ps.fi2 or ps.fir - that will only work with a g15.   If CHIMP set the card up correctly then you should be able to unzip the files, lock the card, and have it boot.  You don't need either file for that to work.

Edit : if that doesn't work, we'll have to try some test builds to narrow down the problem.  PM me an email address so we can speed up the process?

Note that CHIMP now has an Enable Autoboot action. That way, you first manually copy the package contents onto the card and then have CHIMP "prepare" it.
