I'm hoping to have a beta release of the 1.01c firmware by the end of this month.

Too many other distractions right now unfortunately.

I've tried to keep the 1.00h and 1.01a ports fairly current with the 1.01c but they won't be available for testing until some time after I get the 1.01c released.

I'm making progress.  Lost a couple of weeks chasing a bug that turned out to actually be a corrupted SD card (thanks reyalp for the tip).  Once I get it shooting reliably with overrides I'll post a pre-alpha release.

Hi, waterwingz.

What kind of toolchain do you use?

Mostly Linux these days.  I've tried to remember where I got my most recent version from.  I think it was based on this reyalp forum post :  Re: 1.4 development planning thread

That thread was what prompted me to place a note at the top of this CHDK wikia page : Compiling CHDK under Linux.   It would be nice if there was a better explanation and that note was removed.

Having said all that,  IIRC there is also an additional patch needed to the toolchain.  If you study the build log file carefully the need for the patch is logged but it typically scrolls off the screen too fast to read.  @reyalp : reference please ?

To use finsig_thumb2 or capdis, you need capstone-3.0.4 with the patch from the windows zip linked from http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Capdis_Disassembly_Tool

(I should really update the tools to use a newer version of capstone that doesn't need the patch)
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I finally got a few minutes (okay - hours - many hours) to move things ahead. Here's a link to a pre-Alpha version for the 1.01c - other f/w versions will follow eventually.

link > G16 1.01c Alpha 1

It loads & runs reasonably stably.  You can access from chdkptp (yah!).  All the <ALT> mode menu stuff works,  the CHDK OSD is active, uBASIC and Lua scripts run and can shoot.  Exposure overrides are functional - although only when the camera is in Canon AUTO or M modes - see : Re: EOS M3 porting post#132371

Anything that needs video / image / sensor buffers to function should be assumed to be broken.  So RAW/DNG don't work yet. Neither does edge overlay or zebra or chdkptp liveview.

And yes,  I know that the display "flashes" a lot when you enter <ALT> while the camera is in shooting mode.

Edit : the <alt> key is currently the Shortcut button

Hi waterwingz,

Will you plane to share the source code? I'd like to experiment with my G16.

Thanks,
Alex.
