Sorry for not responding in almost 3 weeks (life loves to get in the way  :haha ) but on 101A the HDR.LUA sctipt reliably crashes the camera in any mode.
Thanks for the report.  I assume you downloaded the newest version for your test? Does the shoot.lua script also crash?  Can you post a ROMLOG dump (from the Miscellaneous Stuff -> Debug menu) please?

Details here : CHDK User Manual : Save ROM Crash Log

Definitely G16 1.01b.  Unfortunately it's sufficiently different from both the 1.01a and 1.01c that it will need its own port.  Won't take me too long to do the actual work but my free time is a bit limited right now so it could be a week or two.
No sweat, limited time is a familiar concept  ;) And I'm really glad you started working on this. Ever since I encountered CHDK in early 2015, I've been coming back now and then to check for news. Now I'm eager to test CHDK on my camera but I certainly can wait a few more weeks. Notifications are enabled, so I'll know. Meanwhile, I can try to bring myself up to speed on current CHDK status.

I think the biggest limitation is the interference between the Canon UI and the CHDK UI when the camera is in shooting mode.  All CHDK ports have the issue to some degree but on the digic6 ports (so far) it's bad enough to make the port difficult to use.  Also, AFAIK nobody has implemented the CHDK video mode functions - including me.
Will PTP and motion detection work? Those are the features I could make use of instantly  :D

it's the version dated 2017/08/13 on the first page

Does the shoot.lua script also crash?
Yes. As a matter of fact, all scripts included crashes. (as soon as the button is pressed, even the intervalometer)

Can you post a ROMLOG dump (from the Miscellaneous Stuff -> Debug menu) please?

also, the flickering seems much worse in this version.

If you configure exposure overrides in the Enhanced Photo Operations menu and then shoot normally, does the resulting image's exposure respond to those settings?

Also, it would be interesting to know if script that do not actually shoot images also crash.  There are sample scripts in the A/SCRIPTS/EXAM folder that don't shoot - try countdown.lua maybe?

Finally, is the date set correctly on your G16?  The ROMLOG indicates that the crash occurred on 2017:08:16 18:23:33 - 12 days ago.  Does that seem right?

that works until you engage TV overrides at which points the camera locks up as soon as the shutter is pressed. leaving the screen blank with only CHDK OSD visible.

it is crashing with countdown.lua

The test build is out of date so i wound the clock back.

There seems to be something wrong here.

I just downloaded the 1.01c version from the first page of this thread and installed it.  When I start the camera, it tells me there are 45 days left.

If you go to the CHDK Miscellaneous menu and select Show Build Info, what does it give you for the Revision and Date ? (the 1.01c version shows 4894 and Aug 13 2017)

Revision 4832, dated Jun 25 2017  :o

Quick edit: yeah it seems like i had my versions mixed up........

Second edit: redownloaded and copied all the files, confirmed was a mixup on my part (sorry about that  :-[ ), HDR.LUA works flawlessly as expected.

That would explain the crashes.

I just downloaded the 1.01a version and checked the file date of the DISKBOOT.BIN file.  It's the 13th of August as expected.

Download again and reinstall?

Unfortunately I have the firmware 101b, which won't be supported for any new firmware. :'(
I gladly would like to get my G16 prepared for testing.
