To cut a long post short, i basically cannot get the ver.reg to  show the firmware version on my camera. The camera was bought in Japan so i was wondering if that might have anything to do with it.....

I got chdk to work using the 1.00e build so the whole firmware thing is not really an issue but i am curious as to why ithe firmware check may not be working. Instead of getting a 1.00e number i get 1.0.0.0 when following the firmware check wiki instructions. I have tried to make the ver.reg file a number of ways and have followed the instruction several times.... I have also tried using the vers.reg file but to no avail.

any ideas? I would have though that the Japanese 900is was just a rebadged sd800 so is there somthing different that might be stopping the firmware check from working?

try vers.req, with a Q, not with a G. after all, the camera can't load windows registry files :D
alot of new users make this mistake, don't worry about it :)

damn... that makes me feel stupid...... i spent hours trying to get it to work... at least it was work time ;)

perhaps a little note in the wiki instructions would be of use.....

hey, it's a wiki, everyone can add notes there. please be so kind and spare the next new user the hassle you went through and edit the entry to your liking. it is very difficult for "non-noobs" (like me) to write FAQ/manuals, as with experience we know everything and don't know what a newbie doesnt know. sounds complicated, i know :D

Well it does stand for version request, so it should be obvious it's 'q' at the end ;)
