Which cams can do time lapse?

Hi all.

To do good time lapse, you need to be able to

1. Lock focus
2. Lock aperture
3. Lock shutter speed

Basically, you need to keep these things constant, so images are consistent from one to the next.  But it looks like a lot of Canon's small cameras have deficiencies in one or more of these areas.  Can anyone tell me which part of Canon's non-SLR product line would meet the requirements above, without limitation?

Thanks!

I would suspect that IXUS series may pose an issue. As far as my knowledge goes, they don't have all manual features (and that is one reason why I went for A710IS, though I really disliked the design)

At least the S3 can do it.

I don't know if the IXUS have problems with this as fuzzychicken suggests, but it is true that the strength of the IXUS is a slim and stilish design more than advanced manual features.

Here is something interesting about timelapses:

Timelapse with variable shutter speed

Thanks.

Thanks for the info, guys.

I looked at the thread about variable shutter speed.  I was indeed hoping to implement some kind of ramping effect for sunsets.

Varying the shutter speed is obviously a valid idea, but varying aperture will give you more consistent motion.

Which brings up another problem: Apparently the Ixus cameras don't even have an iris; they have ND filters instead.  LAME.
