Great. Since Russian suffers from the same, I chose to replace its equivalents of "Kartenerkennung" with those of "Karte" etc.

I've made my first attempt with this new installation tool: I'm one of those emailing Dave because of recent unstability of java on my desktop with W10 ! Sorry Dave !
And I must say i'm deeply impressed with it: few minutes to download, insert a card and make an install of SDM. I will explore further but very simple to use apparently whatever the desired config !
Thanks for this tool.

Don't apologise Michel - I've been recommending it to any Windows users who report STICK (and now ASSIST) problems for some time. I'm very impressed too!

Thanks Dave,
I've been using so long Assist and Stick with satisfaction, that it is very impressive to find an even simpler and combined tool ! dreaming now for an integrated ubasic debugger ;-)))

Hi Dmitrys
I've played a couple of times to experiment both SDM and CHDK install. All of them went well and smoothly with an empty card and a picture on it. Again many thanks and congrats for this achievement !
However some minor remarks:
* when no picture is on the card, I've tried to use the CHIMP directory to store one, and the program was not able to find it, until  *.* was set in the file box. (maybe a windows trick ?)
* if a previous version of software is on the card, the program assumes that intent is to install/update the same hack for the same fw version. this is a bit tricky if you want to use a former card for a new camera. the program then does not ask for a picture to identify fw version. the same if you want to install SDM iso CHDK or reverse. I guess I'm not the only one using different canon cameras or versions.
* for installing SDM, I could not choose other language than english. this was doable with assist.
* if no 'hack" is on the card the program mentions "no camera software detected". does this mean no "hack" already installed ?
* camera fw version is mentionned version 1.00 rev 4.00 I guess this is equivalent to former 100d mention.
* Would it be possible to add a "restart program" button ?

If you want assistance for a french translation (?) I would be happy to do this...if I understand how...
Michel

You're most welcome. I must say that Dave has been a huge help.

The picture doesn't need to be copied to the CHIMP directory. Unless it's been renamed, it should be visible in the Select Picture dialog (in its respective location).

These scenario aren't supported. If you'd like to replace/override an existing install, manually delete DISKBOOT.BIN/AUTOEXEC.BIN from the card.

That's one of the few features left unimplemented in CHIMP.

Yes.

Yes, the ExifTool format is used for FW revision display.

Possible, yes, but I'm really trying to keep the controls to the minimum.

Mais biensur! :)

First, clone the repo on GitHub (you'll need a GitHub account), then clone to desktop.
Next, open the solution in Visual Studio and copy Properties\Resources.resx to Resources.fr.resx.
There is one more file to localize, but it's a bit tricky.

I'll be happy to answer any questions, should they arise.

this may happen ! Idea is not to provide you with additional work.....but I'm not a programer and frequently in the very basic learning curve ;-) eg visual studio is chinese to me !!
Is it OK if i use the Resources.fr.resx replacing the <value> xxx </value> with the french translation ?

I download and ran the latest version.  Worked really well but strangely it started on the third or fourth tab, skipping the introduction and license agreements.  There does not seem to be a way to reset or go back?

Sure, you could edit Properties\Resources.fr.resx (and, for that matter, Resources\intro_tips_fr.txt) manually, but you wouldn't be able to test.
