Hello,

A "porting thread" just means a discussion topic on the forum about development for a particular camera.

I guess you are asking what tools you use for development?

The main thing you need is knowledge. Porting requires some understanding of C, assembly language, and reverse engineering. If you have those skills, finding the right tools will not be a problem.

Are you trying to make this script work on a camera that already runs CHDK, or you want to port CHDK so you can run this? The latest version of this script is on http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Manual_Exposure_Control_for_Video_Recording

It is possible to damage your camera if you do something wrong. In practice, this has not happened very often, but there is no guarantee.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

In fact ,im waiting for a new portage firmware because the firmware is different  (Eos M10),by srsa_4c.

Im dont know the  language C, only the basic.

I understand that scripts may no longer be compatible from one device to another, or is the script from an old canon device still working ?

For example how to write a program that will switch off the display during a long pose to save battery for the EOS M10
