Hi,
I am planning to dump the G1X MkII.
I will follow the advice of others here.

my plan is to assume that it is similar to it's cousin the G1X.  Correct approach ?

I am planning to dump the G1X MkII.
This model has a relatively recent official firmware upgrade (1.1.0), on Canon's support page.
I'd dump the current firmware first, then update to the latest official one and dump that too.

The original G1X is a DIGIC 5 camera, the mark II has DIGIC 6. I'd expect it to be close to SX60 and maybe G7X.

FWIW, I do already have g1x mk II firmware 101a in my firmware dump collection.

It's DryOS 54p3, which puts it between the sx280 (r52) and g7x and sx60 (55p6). The other known 54p2 camera is sx700, which has been dumped but not fully ported. IIRC someone did some work on sx700 and got stuck.

I've included g1 mk2 in my test firmwares for finsig_thumb2 development, so I expect it isn't terribly different from supported cameras.
Don't forget what the H stands for.
