Startup into script mode?

Hi,

I'm doing long lasting time lapses and need to change SD card once in a while. However, after SD card was modified, camera can no longer write to it without restarting. Restarting sequence can move camera around because require multiple physical inputs. For SD card I use extension cable, for script launching - USB cable. Attached example photo of my setup.

To restart camera and script:
  • Press power button (off)
  • Press power button (on)
  • Press shutter to get out of preview mode
  • Press mode button to get into script
  • Press USB cable button to launch script

Would it be possible to make camera power button to turn on camera and set mode to script? This would get minimal physical input to camera body:
  • Press power button (on) (could be hardwired to external cable)
  • Press USB cable button to launch script

Thanks,
Vincas

CHDK allows you to have a script run automatically each time the camera power is turned on.  It's an option in the CHDK Script menu. If you want also wait for a USB "press" just add that to the code at the beginning of the script.
