300hs AND sx40hs Badpixel.bin failed.

for the last few months i cant use RAW/DNG .
Everytime i tyr to create a  Badpixel.bin  I get Nothing but.

Badpixel.bin failed.

ixus220_elph300hs-101e-1.0.0-1860-full_ALPHA

All Settings are Default on the camera and in CHDK.

I just loaded an older version and it works >>

 ixus220_elph300hs-101d-1.0.0-1545-full_ALPHA

Can you do the following please (using the latest build):
- create an empty badpixel.bin file in the CHDK directory
- take two DNG images, at the wide end of the zoom, of a light colored wall, 1 at the lowest ISO and 1 at the highest
- take another two images at the telephoto end of the zoom (again at min and max ISO)
- upload the DNG files to a file share site (e.g. box.com) and post a link to them here.

I can then take a look and try and work out what might be going wrong.

I see The badpixel.bin dont work on the sx40hs.

i puts one on the card but its file size is 0kb


And Not "All" bad pixels are Black.

and I KNOW im NOT the only one that has this isue.



Here is an Image Taken with a >BRAN NEW< camera JUST taken out of the Package This is the FIRST photo taken with it.

I ran chdk on it and set the shutter time for 15 seconds
and l left the lens cap on it.

so if i did what you said to use a " light colored wall" you would NOT see this.
And zoom Does Not change this.


And its Not the Only camera i can find this with .
some cameras may need a longer shutter time to see this and some cameras Less shutter time to see this.

Bad pixel creation works fine on my SX40.

None of which actually helps anyone diagnose the problem and help find a solution.

If you want help fixing it do as I requested and post the DNG images so I can analyse them and try and work out what is happening.

i enable save raw..........
i exit alt...............
i click shutter........
And camera Turns OFF.

Just tested the second sx40 and Same thing.

sx40hs-100i-1.0.0-1860-full_BETA

I Just Loaded an older virsion >sx40hs-100i-1.0.0-full<
and All works Fine.

so i dont see were i am doing something wrong if Older versions work fine..........
Or what a dng image will do to help this isue.
I needed to revert to an older version for the 300HS to get it working "Properly" aswell.

It looks like its cause of a Change in a newer build that messed it up.
I dont have ALL the builds to see were the isue starts to occur .
 I only have like 35 or 40 builds onboard that i have used.

WORKING Builds

This is getting very confusing - as far as I can tell you've now posted of four different issues in the same thread.
- badpixel.bin creation fails on the ixus220 (elph300hs)
- badpixel.bin creation fails on the sx40hs
- long exposure images have hot pixels (CHDK won't do anything about this BTW)
- sx40hs crashes when taking an image if RAW/DNG enabled

This makes it very hard to offer help and diagnose any problems.

I just loaded the latest version from http://mighty-hoernsche.de/ on my sx40 and both badpixel.bin creation and RAW/DNG shooting work without any problems.

Is the badpixel.bin file you created manually completely empty (0 bytes long)?

There could be something wrong with your CCHDK.CFG file - try renaming it on the SD card and re-test.

The DNG images will help me to determine why the badpixel.bin fails on the 300HS (which is what you originally asked for help with). I have written tools to examine the DNG files so I can try and work out why the badpixel.bin creation fails. The DNG file has all the camera EXIF info and the image size details in the header which the CHDK raw does not making it easier for me to analyse.

Hello,
I am also using a IXUS220HS, using the latest Trunk and it is failing to create the badpixels.
Something happen with the latest updates because about 1 month ago (using Trunk) it was working fine.

Any idea?

EDIT: I installed with the same process as all the other times the Stable version and I also get failed badpixels creation.
I am using the same machine, same SD card, same everything.. what can be different?

SOLVED: I don't understand the issue, but all I did was to start my script and stop it, then try to create the badpixels and it worked. Something the script changed to allow the badpixel creation or something didn't work from a clean installation.
