I started to get damaged some SD cards.
After, contact the supplier support, he answer me that this must be caused because i formatted the SD cards.
So, i want your opinion, do this can happen? Format can damage SD cards?
There are several SD Card reliability problems, based upon long term use of more than 200 SD cards:-
a/ The Older low capacity SD cards can have a significant failure rate of about 5%.
b/ New high capacity can totally fail shortly after first use may be about 2%.
A 32Gb Lexar will only now format to less than a Gigabyte.
A 8gb SanDisk Extreme refuses to format.
Other hardware and software related failures are described below.
If you use windows (10) some (of my) SanDisk USB and SD cards will often show a Windows format error
if hot-plugged, even repeatedly, but work perfectly if cold-plugged.
This is probably due to a USB software or hardware problem.
Windows will write additional and un-necessary "DOS-Data" so use your camera to low-level format.
Also I have a cheap USB-2 card reader that partially, and permanently, destroyed a SD card.
And an Expensive USB-3 card reader that some time won't work with USB-2.
EOSCard 1.4 has a bug and will show different results if the boot flag is then (re) set using the
CHDK in camera method.
Also Older and legacy Canon Canon Cameras have a significant failure rate of about 2%.
The Newer Canon Canon Cameras soured on ebay also can have very strange faults.
The most common is dropping a camera, even in a well padded bag, can damage cameras.
This might explain the bricking of a ixus 160 (
