SX40HS raw files do not works

Goodnight
I have a SX40HS cannon with the version of FW 1.00d, I am using CHDK Ver 1.4.1 revision 4918 of Sep, 2017.

RAW files with .CRW or .CR2 extensions do not work for me in any application (ufraw, raw therapee, adobe lite, etc) what can be happening? What should I do to make raw files readable by these applications? .DNG files if read by such applications

Thank you

If DNG works, I'd strongly recommend using that.

The CHDK raw is just a copy of the raw buffer with no meta data, not the actual Canon CRW or CR2 format. This means that to support CHDK raw, applications need to be updated for every different sensor, and also need to be able to correctly guess which is correct for a file. Most applications don't do this for every CHDK camera.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

DNG must be checked as shown in the image in order for the CRW format image to be readable as RAW. Uncheck the DNG file extension.

I also had this issue, it was not apparent to me that this was necessary until I tried it because nothing else was working.

Just to be clear, none of the extension options in CHDK have any effect on the content of the files. The files are DNG format if DNG is enabled, or frame buffer dump if not.

The extension may affect behavior of software opening the files or transferring them from the camera or card.

Thank you very much, it is clear to me. There is a possibility that later applications for each CHDK will correct this aspect. Thank you

Thank you so much. Do you know how to do .DNG files can be seen by the pc when I connect the camera via USB? and not have to remove the SD Card. Thank you

There may be a combination of prefix / extension that works. You have to use an extension camera recognizes like CR2 or CRW not DNG. I think people have reported that CRW_ as the prefix works. The software on your PC may be a factor too.

As I mentioned above, using a CR2 extension will not affect the actual format of the file, but you may need to rename it to DNG for some programs to open it correctly.

An alternative is to use the CHDK PTP extension (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/PTP_Extension) to download files but this means you have to use a program like chdkptp and if you are using windows, the normal windows software will no longer be able to access the camera.
