LCD fails to shut down on PS A700 running ultraMD script

I am having some difficulties with getting the ultraMD script to function as hoped for on an A700 camera. I purchased it used as a cheap trial camera for a project to make a small mammal camera trap.
The script works well as far as the motion sensing is concerned but I can't seem to get it to turn off the LCD display even though I set it to do so. As I need to save as much power as posible this would seem to be a must if I am going to get an overnight minimum duration from the internal batteries.
Trying the miser2 script I found the LCD display did in fact turn off and take pics as I expected so the camera does respond. As a complete novice to coding I am not sure if the display needs to be on for motion sensing functions and hence why it remains on when using the ultraMD script but I would have thought that is possibly not so or why would the option to turn it off be present?
Most likely this will turn out to be something stupid on my part but I would appreciate any help at all please.
