If you already have CHDK on another camera, you can also use that to make a script disk, with the attached lua file. You need turn on "Enable Lua Native Calls" in the CHDK miscellaneous menu.

This should not be so difficult to get done.  There must be some simple missunderstanding.

Can you provide a screen print of Windows File Explorer showing the files in your SD card ?

Also, can you use you mobile phone to make a short video showing the back of your camera (LCD display) and show how you start the camera, how you press the Set button, and what happens on the screen display?

You did a great job on those videos. I can't see anything that you are doing wrong.

Which really just leaves us with the only other possible problem being that your SD card is configured incorrectly.

Unless someone else has a better idea?

Is the card formatted as FAT16 or FAT32 - a 32GB card will probably get formatted as exFAT in the camera, and this won't work?

If you low level formatted the card in your camera, it may have formatted it as exFAT.   @philmoz is suggesting that an exFAT formatted card might not be useable to run Canon BASIC.   I have not experimented with that but for now can you try formatting the card in your PC and make sure to select FAT32 as the format used?

Wouldn't hurt to double check, but it would be pretty surprising if an 8GB card were formatted exFAT.

You could try one or more from the following:
- an external card reader
- a different PC
- verifying that the SCRIPT string is indeed there on the card (using the HxD method from http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Canon_Basic/Card_Setup but don't write anything to the card)
- with a prepared card: shoot a picture with the camera, switch it off, power it on in playback mode and press SET
