Hy Guys, first of all let me congrat. you for this wonderful work you've done. CHDK gave another life to my old A610.
Ok so i was shooting 3 shots for an hdr result, total manually with a tripod, with ev -2 /0 / +2, saved it in RAW.
Until here everything ok.

First question: Why does photoshop doesn't recognize the raw format that chdk saved?
Second question: When i do the conversion with "DNG for powershot" to a dng format, does it lose any data or quality?

Ok let me continue. So now with the three photos that looked quite fine, i was ready for the merge. So first i opened the pics on photoshop to make surte temperature of the three was equal for the merge, than i did a merge to hdr, and finally iv got the first result. At the first look i noticed something wrong, the image contained strange purple colors as you can see on the attach.
When i did the same process with photomatix it looked fine, my question is: why did photoshop gave me that colors :P ?
it have something to do with the conversion? Why does this happen?

Im sorry for the long text. Hope you can help me.

Best Regards.

edit: im sorry if any admin could just move this thread to "Raw processing etc.."

it doesnt recognize it because PS/Adobe dont know of the existance of RAWs from cheap p&s cameras (a few commercial raw editors can open them). so for now dng4ps is the only way to process them. no, you wont lose any data nor quality.

about the purple lines - i dont know, it must be a PS thing, as you stated photomatix did proper results (never did hdr on PS, maybe google up a tutorial!?).

akkadian,

That jpg looks like you have a PS filter applied. Effects like that are obtained that way. Check?

RawTherapee will convert/process RAWs from the A610 straight  from the PC - free program (requests donation) and excellent!

Read Main Features of RT v2.3 - then give it a go.

Best,

carlos

............so for now dng4ps is the only way to process them.

RawTherapee supports quite a few CHDK loaded cameras, is interested in request for support to others and really does a great job. Fairly simple to use (GUI) even for a the not-so-computer-smart, such as I.  ::)

Here's the current list: "What cameras are supported?"

With appreciation for your contributions to the forum and, therefore, to us all ...

carlos
