Hi
I was wondering if you can set an a480 or a490 to superfine jpeg.
Since the chdk enhanced photo operations menu does not have this field the obvious answer is no.
But I'm willing to put in the time if somebody can point me how to sort this out.

This CHDK option is only for cameras that do not have this feature natively.

The A480 and A490 do not have this feature natively, so that fits the description ;)

putting status=set_prop(props.QUALITY,0) in a lua script didn't make a difference, still 3 bits/pixel instead of 5

Sorry, I thought both cameras has a native super fine option

Then is an entry in platform_camera.h necessary:
Code: [Select]
#define CAM_QUALITY_OVERRIDE                1

Hi MSL,
No problem, I can only tell because I have several of these camera's on my desk.
But an entry in platform_camera.h .....
Ok, I admit to be new at this, might have some programming skills but you have lost me already.

If you would be so kind as to point me to where to make that entry, I will do so.
And in case I can't what can I do to help to make that happen?
Would you like one for testing?

firmware current used models: A480-100B A490-100f
a490-100e, a495-100 and a810-100d (poor image quality)

If you are willing to test, we can get you new builds that include the necessary changes.  I'll try to post something tonight unless someone else does it sooner.

No apology needed, it gave me time to read the developers pages.
And since I didn't start coding and compiling yet I'm sure you beat me to it.

If I followed your edits correctly, here's the two versions you were looking for with
Code: [Select]
#define CAM_QUALITY_OVERRIDE                1enabled in platform_camera.h.

Card lock booting only - firmware update method not built. Let us know if these makes any difference in the resulting images?
