SX500IS hot keys menu shows always,how to remove?

On my SX500IS, when CHDK is loaded there is a display of what appears to be hot key assignments (<Alt> shortcuts and shutter half press). This window remains there all the time and obscures the other displayed info. I have not found a way to turn that window off (My SX400Is does not have that window. I compared the CHDK settings on the two cameras but did not notice any difference). How do I turn this window off? Thanks.

This "help" screen is on by default. It's not camera specific.

CHDK Settings -> Menu Settings -> Show <ALT> Help Screen
