Can't find .CRW files, SX530 HS

Hello, In the CHDK settings under RAW, I have extension set as .CRW. The folder is set as "with JPG". I have the "save RAW" checked. When I connect the camera to PC via USB cable, the explorer shows only the IMG files and no .CRW. Why it does not show the CRW files? Does it have any thing to do with CHDK? If I insert the SD card directly into the the card slot of PC, then it shows both.

Unfortunately, that's normal. AFAIK, it's a PC issue and not something CHDK related. You could try saving your RAW files with other extensions using the CHDK menu choices and see if your PC will accept any of them.

I would suggest trying prefix CRW_ extension .CR2 (IIRC reported to work on other cameras) or IMG_ .CR2 (used on cameras with native raw)
Don't forget what the H stands for.

This camera is 2015 camera. CR2 is one of the options in the RAW menu. What is difference between CRW & CR2? Is it just the fact that in newer cameras the format is CR2. However this camera does not have native RAW ability. Can CR2 be read by the same apps that can read CRW? Thanks.

Changing the extension used by CHDK to save the file does not change the actual file itself in any way.  All that changes is the file name.  The RAW data (an unformated sensor dump) in the file is identical - if you want to test, change the extension and prefix to all available options and then use your favorite utility to compare the binary content of the file.  They will all be the same.

The only reason for changing the prefix or extension is to trick Canon's PTP firmware and/or your PC's software into letting you upload the file from the camera to your PC.

In CHDK, the extension does not affect the format at all. It may affect how the Canon firmware lists them to your PC.

I strongly suggest you use DNG format, with whatever extension allows you to transfer the files. You might need to rename the files to have a DNG extension for some programs to recognize them correctly.
