Newbie needs help with kap.lua instal

I am a complete newbie to CHDK and am trying to install a kap.lua script into a Cannon SX260.

Camera firmware version shows as 1.0.1.0.

I am attaching the files I was given for the script below.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have CHDK installed and running on your camera? You will need to do that before you can use the script.

You might want to look at this : CHDK User Manual and then this Prepare your SD Card.  The STICK and/or CHIMP utilities at the top of the second page linked are very useful.

The attachments are older versions of the script.  They will work but I suggest you use the more recent version, available here :  KAP_UAV Exposure Control Script

I'll repost my earlier answer to your question.

Do you have CHDK installed and running on your camera? You will need to do that before you can use the script.

If you don't have it installed, then you might want to look at this : CHDK User Manual and then this Prepare your SD Card.  The STICK and/or CHIMP utilities at the top of the second page linked are very useful.

no, I do not have CHDK loaded. I want to use the KAP LUA script. The progras such as STICK and CHIMP want to load CHDK, not KAP .

Okay, figured out that I do need CHDK loaded. Used CHIP for that. Also got the KAP script loaded to the LUALIB file on y SD card. Which of the other scripts in that folder can I delete, or is there a way to ake the KAP script the default?

Typically, the preferred location for script files is the /CHDK/SCRIPTS folder on the SD card (rather than the /CHDK/LUALIB folder).  You can actually put a script file anywhere on the SD card and use it, but the CHDK file browser opens the /CHDK/SCRIPTS folder first so that's usually the best place to use.

Don't delete anything from the LUALIB folder!  Strange stuff will start happening if you do.

After you select a script using the Load Script from File ... option in the CHDK Script menu, it becomes the default script for everything you do next. You will see the words "Default Script" replaced with your script name.  Also, the script name in the lower left of the CHDK main <ALT> mode screen will become the name of your selected script.

When you exit the CHDK <ALT> mode, the default is saved so that script will be used the next time you start the camera as well. 

Finally, if you enable the Autostart [ On ] option in the CHDK Script menu, the script will automatically start each time you start your camera.  You can also have it start automatically each time you enter <ALT> mode.
