Ok, I'll look more precisely to see IF I can help in develloping ^^

Why do you think the manual focus function in CHDK is not available on the SX620?
Oh ! So this is supposed to work...
I tried in many ways to use it and I spent a lot of times :/

First, when I read the "camnotes.txt" from the last build in
Code: [Select]
sx620hs-100b-1.5.0-5544-full_ALPHA.zip : They are nothing saying that "MF" or "SD Overrides" works.

Then, launching the script TEST/mftest.lua make the camera to crash if the first option is toggled on (as I see upper in the thread). But when it is toggled off, I get the csv in attachment : everything seems to pass...

How I think it should work, and it don't :
I set up my camera :
In P-mode with :
AF FrameCenter
AF Frame SizeNormal
Digital ZoomOff
AF-Point ZoomOff
Servo AFOff
Continuous AFOff
AF-assist BeamOff
I set up CHDK :
Disable OverridesNo
Override Subj. Dist.On
I've a scene with a very near and a far object.
  • When I half press in shooting mode : it does autofocus
  • After autofocus, the value of SD didn't change
  • If I change the value of SD, the focus point didn't change

I tried to be more the more precise I can be.
Thanks you for your help !

According to MF_test and the current source, subject distance override only works when the camera is set to MF or is in AF-lock. Neither of those is available on the Canon user interface, you need to use scripting to activate them.
To switch MF on/off, use the set_mf script command. For AF lock, use set_aflock.
Script commands are listed here.

Wow ! Ça fonctionne :)
Thank you, I wouldn't figure that the menu of chdk cannot achieve this only function, but now I think that this is (unclearly ? I'm not fully english speaker) here : https://chdk.fandom.com/wiki/CHDK_Manual_Focus_and_Subject_Distance_Overrides

Yes. It's a really a bug for cameras like your which require set_mf / set_aflock. We discussed how to handle this at one point, but didn't come to a solution https://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=11078.msg118300#msg118300

Yes, that page mentions some of the issues, but it's a bit out of date.

@aalberti here's a test build for SX620 firmware 100c

Please report whether it runs. Any additional testing you can do from https://chdk.fandom.com/wiki/Testing is appreciated.

edit:
Now enabled in autobuild, test build removed.
