hello to all
guys have been doing a great job.. i got a canon powershot sx 260 hs i was successful in installing chdk into it.. and can anyone tel me how to install ptp extn to remotely control through computer using windows 7.. after i start the camera in chdk mode , my computer does not recognize canon from the usb port so while install libusb driver i can't find the canon camera as advised ( in instruction given in PTP Extension ). i have tried installing it in non chdk mode and i was successful but once start in chdk mode in run into the above problem... kindly help

Make sure that 'USB remote' is disabled in CHDK.

Assuming you want a graphical interface, you can try
1) chdkptp, there are binary packages here.
2) PtpCamGui

once again thanks srsa_4c i was able to install ptpCamgui2.0.135,( but let my try what you have suggested) and get the graphic interface. but how to get live view while rc through laptop, i could not find any option... sorry for my ignorance... being totally new to this....

I believe that you will only get "liveview" if you use chdkptp - not ptpCamgui.

Thanks waterwingz i installed chdkptp i wall able to use the live view and control through laptop , but when i started installing chdk shell, as instructed i downloaded full version "CHDK-Shell-v280-full-sfx" and extracted to a folder.

the instruction are as follows

"Extract to an empty directory without spaces in name (example: D:\CHDK) - the installer will create one for you if you type a non-existing folder name;
When done, open the folder and start CHDK-Shell-{version}.exe
To install an update version, just choose your existing folder (that would be D:\CHDK in case of the example above) and allow the updater to overwrite files"

my problem is i could not find the CHDK-shell-{version}.exe file in extracted folder

I think you will find it (e.g. CHDK-Shell-v344.exe) in the same folder where the extracted folder is located (i.e. it's not in the folder itself)

Version 2.80 is not the recent full version.

1. Download recent full version 3.40: http://www.box.com/s/z20v0v52d1p8jcoa30bk
2. Download recent update version 3.44: https://www.box.com/s/kbdog572xz5ix67x5q2p

3. Run CHDK-Shell-v340-full-sfx.exe. The program asks for a folder, use for example d:\shell.
4. After finish 3. look into the folder, e.g. d:\shell and run CHDK-Shell-v340.exe. At first the program will set up the compiler. When all is done close the program.
5. Run the update version CHDK-Shell-v344-sfx.exe. The program asks for a folder. Use the same folder, e.g. d:\shell
6. Go into the folder, e.g. d:\shell and start CHDK-Shell-v344.exe. Allow the internet connection. The program will download the recent CHDK source code. After this the shell is ready for a first compiler start.

Hello All, Please be gentle with me

I've read the wiki and searched the forum, I have a Cannon A810 with a 16gb card.

I've tried Eoscard, Sticky (and wasp) and Yesterday I tried formatting the card just with a single fat16 200mb partition with CHDK on and nothing else and no matter what I try I can not get it to auto boot.

The firmware update method works every time but I really wanted to auto boot either with a single partition or with dual partitions.

Has anybody else seen this before with the A810?
