My Canon HG10 camcorder uses the Digic III chip. Do you think there's any chance any of this might get ported to my camera some day? Anything I can do to help the effort?

I googled your camcorder, it uses harddisk recording, so I don't think CHDK can be ported for it.
AFAIK a SD card slot is necessary for CHDK,  this cam has miniSD ...

Well, a Mini-SD card should look like an SD card from software, so that may work OK. But beyond that I have no idea where to start. I assume that the process of porting to a new camera is done somewhere, by a programmer, but have no idea what the exact steps are. I am a programmer and might could help with that if I knew more about it.
